This small edition of 12 lino reduction prints represents
an imagined gathering from the spring of 1916. Three faceless figures, a local train, a country station, an RFC training aeroplane and a receding viaduct. The beginning of The Battle of The Somme is a few days away.
I have tried to bring together these nostalgic echoes from the past, objects of certainty-soon to be consumed in a very uncertain future.
The lino reduction process progressively destroys the original plate and the number of prints is limited by the initial print run of the first colour. The edition of twelve is printed on Canaletto 300gsm acid free print making paper at BIP in Kemp Town Brighton. The Columbian printing press used for the work dates back to the 1840s.
