Yep, ‘Play it again Sam’- possibly the most misquoted line in the history of cinema. The ‘again’ was of course missing, along with a lot of the atmospheric shadows that were allegedly painted on the set at the Hotel Monte Vista in Flagstaff Arizona.
Here we see Dooley Wilson as Sam and Ingrid Bergman as Isla Lund. Humphrey Bogart as Rick Blane is just about to break up the party in this masterful classic directed by Michael Curtiz.
I use traditional relief printing methods - this image being a three colour lino reduction print. The edition of twelve is printed on Canaletto 300gsm acid free print making paper at BIP in Kemp Town Brighton. The Columbian printing press used for the work dates back to the 1840s
